    Like busking but with live learning. Freely available for all, welcoming big and small, with the audience a part of the music. Donations welcome

  • EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

    Bringing a little wonder to events of all sizes: from parties and neighbourhood gatherings; to full blown festivals and Hackney Carnivals

  • CRAFTING CLUBS

    Do-It-Together activities where the process of making a Curiosity Workshop gadget - a sundial, for example - allows deeper learnings

  • BESPOKE TUITION

    Hand-crafted tutoring and exploration, whether one-on-one or in small groups; in-person or online. Includes access to London workshops for hands-on creations

Pocket Sundial Making Workshops

There’s a surprising amount to learn from the shadow of a stick. Beyond a clock, did you know a sundial could be used as a compass, calendar and GPS system?

Come on a journey spanning astronomy, maths, languages and craft; from ancient wisdom to the frontiers of contemporary knowledge and technology.

Afterall, that stick isn’t called a gnomon - ‘one that knows’ - for nothing.

NEXT EVENT: We’ll be at Hilly Fields Fayre on Saturday 20th June, before running workshops throughout the day of the Summer Solstice on Sunday 21st June at the Hilly Fields Stone Circle. We’ll be exploring the wonderful sundial within the Circle, while making our own mini versions.

Sessions will last approximately 2 hours, priced by donation. Proposed times:

  • 10am - Noon

  • 1pm - 3pm

  • 4pm - 6pm
